New Control Box Wire Feeder Requirements
The new control system is intended to be used with any Bortech or Climax wire feeder that
has a 24 VDC gas solenoid. Older wire feeders which used 115 VAC gas solenoids will not
function properly. These older wire feeders must be upgraded to a 24 VDC gas solenoid and
wire feed cable.
All Bortech or Climax suitcase style wire feeders have a 24 VDC gas solenoid, regardless of
whether they have a metal or plastic cable receptacle and are directly compatible with the
new control.
All shop style (open reel) wire feeders that have a metal cable receptacle have a 24 VDC gas
solenoid and are directly compatible with the new control.
Early model shop style (open reel) wire feeders used a 115 VAC gas solenoid.
If your older shop style (open reel) wire feeder uses a Bortech P/N A1090 or Climax P/N
33935 cable, it has a 115 VAC gas solenoid. This wire feeder must be upgraded with a new
24 VDC gas solenoid and wire feed cable.
If your newer shop style (open reel) wire feeder uses a Bortech P/N A1166 or Climax P/N
41852 cable, it has a 24VDC gas solenoid and it is directly compatible with the new control.
